Neo attends annual SPE Intelligent Energy Conference & Exhibition

Neopartners recently attended the annual SPE Intelligent Energy Conference and Exhibition in Utrecht, Holland.

Widely attended, the conference looked at the progressive technology associated with the oil and gas industry, addressing what is meant by intelligent energy and providing a platform to debate the issues of people, processes and change management in a collaborative conference and exhibition environment.

The ice breaker drinks reception heard a key note address from Dr Alan B. Lumsden, M.D., Professor and Chairman, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery who discussed the potential benefits of technology currently available in the oil and gas industry to the cardiovascular medical profession in what he described as complimentary technologies.

This was followed by an alternative look into “Industrial Gaming” from Knut-Olav Fjell, MSc, Principal Researcher at Statoil Research Centre who has been working with concept development on how to use technology elements from the gaming industry in the industrial domain.

The conference also touched on social media and its place within the oil and gas industry in the form of a Young Professionals Panel session which discussed the continual reduction of experienced engineers and increase of young professionals, addressing the implication of this shift on knowledge sharing.

Haliburton, Weatherford, Baker Hughes and BP were amongst many of the exhibitors showcasing technological advances and intelligent well innovations.
